Photo tour through Sweden
In June of last year I visited OM’s work in Sweden to train their personnel in communications and do some consulting on their website. We made a brief stop in Stockholm, giving me a chance to see the city and talk with an OMer about her work there (more about that later).
We visited the parliamentary buildings and observed the Swedish changing of the guard. I wanted to capture both the changing of the guard ceremony and the parliamentary buildings behind me. So, I solved the problem by capturing the image of the parliament buildings in the reflection from the guard’s helmet!
While in Stockholm I also interviewed a French lady who is serving with OM in Stockholm by doing church planting among primarily-Muslim immigrants. At first she found it difficult to gain their trust, but as she has taught English lessons, held their babies, and participated in their lives, they’ve slowly began opening up.
There are many immigrants from Muslim nations now living in Europe, and Sweden is no exception. She is taking seriously the biblical mandate to “care for the foreigners in your midst.”
